“The prophet Jeremiah spoke against prophets who were proclaiming “peace, peace, when there is no peace”.

I keep thinking back to a few weeks ago when I was at the National Prayer Breakfast. I’ve had the hardest time figuring out how to write this post ever since Israel and the US bombed Iran. Remember me telling you that I walked out of the National Prayer Breakfast in DC when Pete Hegseth said that “peace” comes through violence/war because that’s what the Bible said? (ugh!) In my reflection post about the Prayer Breakfast, I mentioned the room felt unsafe - well, it felt worse than that. It felt violent. It was a call to a war and violence in the name of religion. And, violence was discussed over and over again. It was weird and scary and definitely not Jesus.

Fast forward a few weeks to when Iran was bombed. I instantly remembered the remarks about violence from Trump, Hegseth, and others.
