A few weeks ago, I snuck in a caption under a photo that, hilariously, did not go unnoticed. It read, “a parcel a day keeps the sadness away,” which I stole from a meme years ago and have adopted as a running joke in my household. It landed pretty well here- maybe due to another saying I repeat often- “behind every joke is an element of truth.”
But here’s my hot take: I don’t feel bad about it! In fact, I take a solid YOLO approach and fully embrace the fact that I…love things. My things. I love them! I love finding them! I love getting them! I love looking at them, wearing them, moving them around my house, digitizing them into a virtual closet, playing dress-up with them, writing about them, and maybe most of all, sharing them with you.
I refuse to feel guilty or embarrassed that honestly, shopping boosts my mood. Treating myself to beautiful things, prioritizing my personal style after kids, even carving out time to put this newsletter together every week- it all feels exhilarating.
So cheers to whatever package you rip open this week that gives you a tiny thrill. And if you don’t have one on the way yet… you might by the end of this post. You guys- this vase comes with a COMB. To brush the FRINGE. Can you even handle that? I can't. Catch me combing my vase the next time I’m stressed out.
Last month I had the opportunity to meet with the team at Dorsey to preview their upcoming collection (so lovely), and I was a moth to the flame with this necklace*. So receiving it in the mail was definitely the thrill of my week - and I’ve been wearing it nonstop.
