July, France, 2026. 3rd heatwave, I am exhausted. Everyone is. The Gironde region is on fire. It is heartbreaking.
The energy is indeed firery in every sense of the word.
I literally spend my days between exhaustion and feeling overexcited.
At least the heat has not stopped me from making!
My approach in Art is experimental. It’s only been two years that I’ve really gotten back into a daily practice, although I was trained long ago in Art school.
I want to test everything, I am very voracious and curious of many techniques, and all the art I see on Substack nourishes my curiosity like crazy. The consequence of this is that I don’t really have « a style ». Not sure it really is an issue.
July Collages
I experimented small and simple collages, inspired by Escalator73 :
Some scraps here are from Duane Toops’ amazing papers bundle, which will provide me great material for a long time !
July Sketches
Even more experimentation in my sketches: limited palette, Neocolor, watercolor, Ink…
The morning dudes at the café and parc:
The Saturday market and other life scenes :
Thanks to James O'Boyle for his 10-min challenge, in which learn a lot with watercolors:
My short Basquiat-inspired period :
I always complain I’d like to make more collages. The folks at Duanes’ Faba-doo reunion suggested I mix both. Thanks Duane and Bob!
…and also this!
I made a series of 8 postcards of the emblematic locations in my city for the touristic season :
…and this, too:
