If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably grown tired of the constant barrage of “trendy” gifts that everyone tells you and your loved ones need. Our society has, and likely will always be, a relentless consumer machine—constantly bombarding us with ads designed to make us feel like our lives are incomplete without the latest must-have item. Now, I’m not going to sit here pretending I’m above it all—I’m definitely not immune to the occasional fast fashion impulse buy. But over time, I’ve learned to be more intentional, only purchasing what I truly need and will use. (Especially after a stint where I found myself deep in debt trying to keep up with the endless cycle of more, more, more…) Let’s just say, the devil is hard at work, my friends—so beware!
Over the years, I’ve gathered a fair amount of insight from looking beyond the surface—what some might even call “conspiracy theories” (though, many of the things I first questioned back in 2016, during Trump’s first victory, have since proven to be true). But that’s neither here nor there. The point is, as I scrolled through social media leading up to and after Thanksgiving, I couldn’t find any gift guides that truly resonated with me. So, I decided to create my own—curated around the unique, offbeat parts of my personality that don’t exactly follow the mainstream.
These little guides of gifts speak to the parts of me, which I’m sure are mirrored by some of you, that aren’t so catered to on a day to day.
