52 weekly newsletters. I think I missed one week, but I’ll call it a year now.
I’ll use this opportunity to read through some past issues and reflect on my thoughts a bit.
For now, I opted for going with writing every Sunday. The plan is to just get my thoughts about the week, or sometimes, like today about a single topic in more detail out of my brain. Not much editing, rather like writing a quick email.
The format here hasn’t changed much.
I wrote about MVP building in the first issue. Now Formable still isn’t publicly available. Whoopsie. But it’s certainly useable now, and I’m gathering feedback from people using Formable, not just from demos.
In week two I write „I’m now at 5 subscribers. 400% growth 🚀 I’ll try to keep that up.“
Yeah, I’m at 60 subscribers now, so haven’t quite kept up with 400% WoW growth.
Storing relations are nodes in the graph database. Formable isn’t a hypergraph though and relations don’t link to other relations. This is something I’ve been thinking and talking about though.
UI
I always love it when other people post small UI updates of their products. I also do it from time to time.
Reading issue 7 I realised that I removed a button only to add it back half a year later (with slightly different functionality though).
I checked out some competitors and talked to people building similar things. That gave me a lot of input to work through and gave me ideas for what to build.
One thing I’ve been talking about again and again in the last year, but still don’t have an answer to is how to do the Formable filtering UI. I wrote about that here too. And here.
What exactly is Formable? I still don’t know.
“How do you convince a lot of people of a new idea? One person at a time.”
In issue 9 I write about a favicon with some sketches. They are still on my desktop.
Reading through last year’s newsletters, it feels like both a long and a short period of time. I’m not and Formable isn’t at a radically different position, but wow it’s actually come pretty far in that time.
