Well, all of us have nearly finished the first quarter of this new year. Man, that went by fast! The first quarter always sizzles by for Sherry and myself because we live in quarters and we do a lot of front loading in the first quarter and then reap the harvest of it in the last quarter of the year. Sort of like farming.
In the first quarter of our year, we’ve been dealing with necessary body maintenance. Sherry had surgery on both of her eyes and has much better vision now. She has started getting injections in her knee to try and postpone a knee surgery for twelve months because she doesn’t want to cancel anything in our schedule. (FOMO)
This month we had a really outstanding experience in Atlanta at the annual Mount Paran Central Missions Festival. It’s really an exceptional church in regards to its missions program and the missionary community around Mount Paran has some truly amazing people in it. These are career professionals who have given their whole lives and have such deep knowledge of politics and spiritual dynamics in some very sensitive parts of our world. We always enjoy our time at Mount Paran and the people there really go out of their way to encourage us in continuing our life’s calling.
For many of you, this is your first newsletter because you just joined the mailing list this week. So we want to say welcome to all of you!
We were also able to visit the Bridge Church in Cleveland Georgia and spend a little time with Patrick Ballington. They had an amazing midweek service and more young people than we’ve seen in an American church in a long time. So hats off to the Bridge Church for doing what it takes to stay connected to a younger generation. Working with young people is all we’ve ever done and so that’s always on our radar. We’d like to ask you to pray for Patrick and Krista, especially because Krista has recently gotten a very serious cancer diagnosis, and she is battling through chemotherapy. Please strengthen both of them in prayer. I know they would appreciate it.
For the next month or so, Sherry and I will be going in opposite directions, trying to connect with as many family and friends as possible in the short amount of time that we have in the U.S. until we need to go abroad again.
Looking for a summer missions experience in late July? Check out this link. This summer we’re offering our first annual Summer Missions Experience in Thailand. It’s a 10-day experience, reasonably priced, and you will get a fantastic exposure to missions in the Buddhist world, ride an elephant and also pick up a little photography training in the process.
Medialight Online Training courses are now open for enrollment. Click here for more information for you or your kids or grandkids. Medialight is discipleship for the digital generation.
The Jesus Quest goes International. This is the biggie! You’ve heard me talk about the Jesus Quest before. It’s our innovative system of discipleship that uses Christ’s original pattern of action as the primary way to align human hearts with his.
JQ is a series of 12 month-long challenges like, “Fix all your damaged relationships through apologizing” or “Each day do an amazing good deed for someone else without letting them know it was you.”
We do these things as a group. It keeps discipleship from becoming one more educational experience where you might get head knowledge but no life change.
We even got ourselves a new website to support the program due to the faithful support of people just like you.
That means that by 2027 we will have 1000 trained guides to do live face-to-face Jesus Quest groups in all these nations. It seems like one of the most impactful things we can imagine. We’ve been working to get to this point for the past 5 years.
Our Needs: to scale a program of this size, we’re going to need three full-time people to oversee it, some equipment, the cost of producing weekly videos for it, and some money to market it online so young people around the world will know about the opportunity. The total cost is $58,000 for this year. Could you please help us out? If you don’t like online giving you could make a check out to Emerge Missions Inc. and mail it to 3444 Hampreston Way NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Thanks!!!
The Grounded Podcast: over 40 million people in America alone have ceased attending church. We are losing young people at an alarming rate. This season in the Grounded podcast, we are analyzing what’s gone wrong in Christianity and what we can do in our own personal lives to be a better church.
We are putting a lot of effort into improving the quality of the podcast. Subscribe for FREE here and we’ll send it directly to your email inbox in newsletter form with a link to the video and audio versions as well. We’re getting really good reviews on the podcast, and it seems to be helping a lot of people process where they’re at in their Christian journey these days. We are also launching a book this year called “ReJesus, Everything.”
Thank YOU!!! Sherry and I are trying to use every day of our lives to build big people in the Kingdom of God. We are well aware that this requires a partnership, and that we will never be able to do all that we’re called to do. For the faithful support team we have behind us, we are grateful for you and we pray for you often.
Every blessing!
Chuck and Sherry
