Hello,
I’m Elvira, the founder of Clovelly Cloth Ltd — but more than that, I’m someone who’s always been drawn to things that tell a story. Whether it’s a well-worn linen tablecloth, a family recipe passed down through generations, or the way a certain smell can take you right back to childhood, I believe in the beauty of the everyday.
This Substack is a space I’ve been meaning to create for a long time. Somewhere to share not just the story of Clovelly Cloth, but the many threads that run through my life: interiors and fabric, yes, but also food, travel, motherhood, and the little rituals that make a house a home.
I live in London with my husband and our two children in a house that I don’t think will ever be finished. My days are a blur of school runs, studio time, emails, meal prep, and trying to finish a cup of tea before it goes cold.
I feel very privileged to do a job I love so much but when I am not working you will probably find me cooking something comforting — (anything from baked shakshuka, a trusty roast chicken or a lemon drizzle cake), planning our next family getaway (generally started while on the previous getaway!) or rearranging a corner of the house while also wondering if I will ever manage to live in a truly tidy home!
This newsletter will be a mix of:
Behind-the-scenes from Clovelly Cloth
Stories from my studio and home life
Thoughts on sustainable living and making things that last
Recipes and interiors inspiration
Honest reflections on creativity, motherhood, and running a brand from the kitchen table
Thank you for being here and I hope you enjoy!
Elvira x
