We are just like trees.
Like ants, birds, tigers and elephants.
We are just dirty, stinking little animals roaming the planet. It's only our egos that make us think we are anything more.
We're simply another manifestation of life. Nothing more. Nothing less.
But we treat ourselves like we constantly need to go go go. To do. To achieve. Grind it out and wear yourself into oblivion.
That's the way our society is set up. Because productivity is what our society values. It makes sense if you look at the evolution of trade:
I trade my pig for your bricklaying. You hire a more productive bricklayer, you eat more bacon. You incentivise more productive bricklayers. Everyone incentivises more productivity. (disclaimer: none of this is fact checked - just a thought experiment)
This is natural and it is good.
But we are on the far end of this. We have tools to make us more efficient. But we still work:
every.
waking.
hour.
Everyone is working harder and harder. We wear our tiredness on our shoulders like a badge of honour.
"I work so hard - that means I'm important".
This is all so LAME.
"oh congratulations for skipping your meal because you were working so hard. and props to you for missing the gym because its 'not the priority right now'. oh and nice work missing out on connecting with your family when you get home because you're 'married to the grind'".
You’re just missing out on life.
You are a animal on this planet. A fucking animal.
Only your thoughts about yourself make you think you are anything more.
Do what animals do.
Work in sprints (hunt). Lounge about. Play. Think. Eat. Fuck. Enjoy.
Fucking enjoy it.
