Today, I’m so excited to be sharing my conversation with Dorothy Littell Greco . I first came across Dorothy’s work via a clip of a podcast she’d recorded. In it, she talked about how the church should be leading the way in valuing women. I took off my gardening gloves, immediately googled her, and purchased her book, For the Love of Women: Uprooting and Healing Misogyny in America. In it, she explores how misogyny is still alive and well in our day and age - in healthcare, the law, the workplace, media, and the church - and offers practical, hopeful ways that we can move in a better direction.
I met Dorothy briefly in person at the Festival of Faith & Writing this past spring, and we quickly discovered we had so many areas of common interest. I think you will find her a great source of wisdom and perspective!
In this conversation, we explore the overlapping roots between our books. We talk about how misogynistic mindsets can flow out of a limited view of God that is exclusively male and how an expanded view of God will ultimately benefit men, women, and the Church. This conversation covers a lot of ground, including the unpaid labor of women, historic roots of misogyny, and a disordered view of what strength and weakness really mean.
