Issue no. 28 Americana Knitwear

I’m back! I took some time off to finish my daughter’s Christmas stocking. I put my head down and worked on it any moment I could. I stunned all the ladies at the shop when I brought it in to get “finished” (sewn into the stocking).

Before I started the stocking I started a knitting project that I was inspired to tackle last summer….let’s talk about it….

Let’s go back to the Olympics. Remember last years olympics? What a treasure it was to watch and the pride we felt for those athletes? We were proud to be American! So, let’s rewind even more to the Olympics of the 80’s and 90’s. Was there anything more profound than the team of 1996 for us millennium women? While watching the olympics last year with my daughters I decided that I would make a sweater inspired by the women of my youth and their leotards.

Even though I wish we were all still in the 90’s, todays internet is how I found the perfect pattern. The 90’s are alive with this pattern and model.

As a Girl Scout troop leader and mother to two Girl Scouts it only seemed appropriate to wear this sweater for our Memorial Day Parade! I could insert a long-winded waxing poetic novel about my love for my town here….But, I won’t. I will mention that this town parade has my heart! All the scouts, all the vets, and the high school band members walk in the parade and lay wreaths at various spots in town. Because this is a cute small town, the spectators walk alongside the parade marchers. (This could be a Gilmore Girls episode). What a procession! Loved every minute of it and I love my Daisy girls!

I *almost* posted this video to Instagram, but in the past anytime I posted a video the quality diminished immediately and I don’t want to research how to make it look perfect.
