April is for Agatha

It is April Fools’ Day, in case you weren’t aware, so I feel like I should do something funny, but last year when I made a prank announcement I had more than one person disappointed it was not real. 😅 So. I am not doing that this time.

In lieu of an actual prank, here is how I think the characters from Lady Agatha Speaks Her Mind would observe April Fools’ Day:

Agatha, FMC, hence the title: would merely say, obnoxiously but sweetly, “I know you are but what am I?” Lem would be very annoyed (and strangely twitterpated).

Lem, MMC, although don’t tell him that: would attempt to hide a frog in Henry’s bed.

Henry, Lem’s favorite person until he meets Agatha: would find said frog and re-hide it in Lem’s bed.

Lem would be startled.

Melusine, fairy godmother of nightmares (if you want thin ankles) or daydreams (if you want an enchanted teapot): would probably give you a potion that caused you to sprout rabbit ears. It may or may not be temporary. Good luck.

And since I can’t leave my OG characters out, here’s the WCOATCB cast, too:

Hester, FMC: would make a cake that looked like not a cake. Surprising but in the good kind of way, because the end is that everyone gets cake.

Lucas, MMC: would Hate this holiday with a capital H.

Hugh, who believes he should be the MMC: oh boy we do not even want to know. Lucas would be disgruntled. Hopefully no one would be injured.

Chemmy, Hester’s bestie: would pin a note to your back, but it wouldn’t be actually mean.

Lady Agatha Speaks Her Mind releases this month!! 🥳 Launching a book post-Kickstarter is definitely different than a regular retail release; for one thing, there’s no scramble to finalize files, because everything is already finalized. There’s also not quite as much stress, because people have already been reading & reviewing and I’m relatively certain no one is going to hate hate this book. I mean, someone will eventually. That’s just life. But hopefully none of you, my very close personal friends with whom I share the bond of newsletterdom.

Oh, except now that I typed out “no need to scramble, everything is done!” I just remembered that I have to figure out how to upload everything for distribution. So. There will be a small scramble. But small scrambles are one of life’s little joys, yes? Just enough excitement to keep things … uh … exciting? But not too much?

Just agree with me OK.

Bookwyrm Acquisitions by Constance Lopez. This book sounds so good and there is no logical reason as to why I haven’t read it yet. A book-hoarding dragon shifter? Yes please.

The Supervillian Romance Project series by H. L. Burke. The final book in this series just released, which means it would be the perfect bingey snack. I’ve read one of Heidi’s other superhero books and thought it was so cute, and I’ve heard nothing but great reviews of this series, too!

Beatrice Ophelia Is Flickering Out by Megan Gerig. I read this in literally one sitting: cute, funny, sweet, and heartfelt, just the way I want my cozy mysteries. I’m looking forward to reading more in this series!

So I am calling this newsletter done and hoping I didn’t forget something I wanted to include. (I probably did.) It will come to me in good time.
