Storylivingrytellers (noun, plural) — people who tell stories in a way that actively helps others, not just entertains them. Often, the stories they tell are about the acts of positive deviants — they themselves, ordinary people who facing the same hard conditions as everyone else, quietly found a better way to live. The storylivingryteller lives their truths carrying them forward living a story others can step into and learn from.

Story is the oldest piece — the narrative itself, the thing being told.

Storyliving is newer, coined in 2017 around journalists using VR: instead of hearing about an event, you stand inside it. That’s the first shift the new word makes — the teller isn’t outside the story looking back at it. They’re inside it, telling as they live it.

Livingry is the piece that changes the purpose of the telling. Buckminster Fuller invented it to mean tools and technology built to support life, the direct opposite of weaponry. Folded into this word, it means the telling itself has to be useful — it’s intention is to leave people, the planet and all life better off, not just informed or entertained.

And teller closes it out, turning the whole thing into a person: someone who does all of this — lives the story, tells it as they go, and makes the telling count for something.

That’s why the word is so meaningful as a verb. Storylivingrytelling is to narrate your own life, in real time, in a way that actively helps others — not a memoir written after the fact, not a lesson handed down from a distance, but the telling and the living happening together, the synergy of life’s lessons and the sense of a good story.
