There are only 3 more weeks left in school and it’s all but confirmed that the fall semester will be entirely online for most, which some of us might not be too joyous about.
The state chancellor of community colleges held a press conference to inform what is being done to aid college students. With California loosening its stay at home order, businesses are re-opening and we’re starting to get a taste of the new normal, yet, multiple counties believe the light at the end of the tunnel isn’t close enough.

California Community College Chancellor Eloy Ortiz Oakley stated in a press conference that, "we are telling our colleges to prepare to extend online education to the fall and maybe even beyond.”
The CCC is suing the Dept. of Education for the "arbitrary" requirements to receive CARES Act relief money that have rendered many CA students ineligible. The CCC is pressing the governor to continue working with broadband companies to give access to low-income communities.
California has presented new guidelines to re-open more industries in the state, as well as county by county guidance and a list of places not allowed to reopen.
House Democrats approve $3-trillion coronavirus relief bill: The Democratic-led House approved the biggest coronavirus relief bill yet, but there's little chance it will advance.

Orange County does not meet several key requirements set by the state to move into the next phase of re-opening. Our news editor live-tweeted the OC Board of Supervisors meeting on Monday where they debated teaming up with other neighboring counties to loosen restrictions on businesses.
Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside and San Diego counties are slated to send Newsom a letter about his strict benchmarks counties have to meet before allowing more businesses to reopen — beyond the small retail shops and some manufacturing he allowed to reopen last Friday.
The OC Health Agency promised to have a comprehensive re-opening plan completed by next week’s meeting.

The short answer is “no” but the longer answer is a little nicer to hear. The L.A. Times has this helpful guide on what the CDC, the state and the county says about what you can do now and what you will be able to do in the near future.
As long as you practice physical distancing precautions, you can see your friends. Your faces must stay covered and you have to keep a minimum of six feet between you. Ideally, you should be outdoors, where there’s better ventilation and the virus is less space-constrained.
California also has a “Resilience Road-map” which helps you understand what stage in the re-opening process we are at (Stage 2!) and the safety and risk procedures given for each.
Beaches, trails and parks are re-opening — but it comes with many strings attached, including closed parking lots, piers, boardwalks and more.

The Air Force Thunderbirds will be roaring over Orange County today as a salute to California’s first responders on the frontline of the Coronavirus Pandemic as well as essential workers.
VOICE OF OC: “Volunteer Groups Form in Orange County to Feed Front Line Workers During Coronavirus”
Front Line Appreciation Groups have popped up all over the United States ever since the pandemic started. The groups’ objectives are to deliver meals to staff and first responders at hospitals, police departments and fire stations in the county from local restaurants in their area.
Nevada earthquake: 6.5 magnitude quake strikes US state: A 6.5 magnitude earthquake has hit Nevada, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said. The quake struck 35-miles west-northwest of Tonopah, Nevada, just after 4am (PDT) on Friday. There have been at least four aftershocks reported. According to the USGS, the tremor struck east of the Sierra Nevada mountain range near the Nevada-Californian border.
