Arabs Celebrating The 1929 Massacre of Jews

Palestinian and Arab newspapers are celebrating August 15 as the beginning of the “Buraq Revolt,” the 1929 pogroms throughout Palestine where they murdered over 130 Jews. These include accounts of the events leading to the pogroms that are filled with lies.

Here is a Palestinian account of the events in Hadf News, with the truth added after each paragraph of lies:

The Buraq is part of the western wall of the Haram al Sharif in Jerusalem . The Jewish claim to ownership of it was the cause of the tension that resulted in violent disturbances in August 1929 between Arabs and Jews in Jerusalem and in many parts of Palestine, which became known as the “Buraq Uprising”.

The Jews did not claim ownership with one exception of some youths as mentioned below.

The first Jewish attempts in this context were on September 24, 1928, when they brought, in violation of custom, the equipment for their celebration of what is called Yom Kippur, and they put up a curtain separating men from women and blew trumpets, which aroused the Palestinians’ anger, concerns and fears, and they considered this to be merely a prelude to the Jews taking over the Al-Aqsa Mosque. So they formed the “Al-Aqsa Mosque Guardians Association” and decided to defend their holy place, and this was the beginning of the outbreak of the Buraq uprising, whose bloody events took place during the last week of August 1929.

The curtain (mechitza) was erected in 1928 but it was not the first time that happened, there is documentation that it was set up or attempted back to Ottoman times. There is no evidence that Jews blew the shofar in 1928. The supposed worry that the Jews were going to take over the mosque was the Mufti’s incitement with no basis in fact.
