Odilon Redon

On June 20th, Chiron, planet of the wounded healer, entered Taurus, marking an important moment in his own cycle—he is initiating his very own return. Chiron was first discovered in 1977, at 3° Taurus, and so this ingress into the sign of the bull is quite important. We’re returning to the place where Chiron was when he was first perceived by astronomers. We’re thus integrating a cycle’s worth of experience, collectively, about the vital role of the wounded healer, within.

Chiron influence is not a thing, it is an energetic force; it is an action verb instead of a noun… Chiron in the natal chart functions like a hieroglyph. It is a vehicle in the chart to show where and how realities intersect… It is an occult, or seeing, tool.”

~ Barbara Hand Clow

In our own charts, Chiron is represented by the glyph that looks like a KEY. I find this such a poignant reminder of what Chiron is here to do, and it’s more than just “unlock our healing potential.” Keys fit into locks, and locks make doors, or thresholds, un-openable. When we try to jam a door open, unless we’re a mercurially-blessed lock-picker, we’re thwarted. We need a key to enter the lock, push against a specific set of pressure points unique to that lock, and then we can access the inner sanctum of what’s held within.

It’s also worth keeping in mind that a key without a locked door is an inert object. In order to actually use the key for its intended, and highest purpose, we must know which door we’re trying to open, and use our keys thus. I believe that by observing the placement (house, sign, and aspects) of our natal Chiron, we get deep insight into both the door, and the key.

Chiron is fascinating, but intimidating to approach, for many astrologers and lovers of the astrology. After years of extensive work with this placement, I am excited to announce a refreshed version of my Chiron immersion course, HEALING THE CENTAUR, which begins on August 13th.

Over five live sessions, we’ll move through Chiron’s story: his origins, his wounding, his teaching, his death and release — while learning to read Chiron’s sign, house, aspects, transits, and synastry in your own birth chart.

Each class includes guided visualization, symbolic journaling, and a dream incubation practice.

In addition to the astrological insights offered, each week, you’ll be invited to meet a different member of the centaur family (Chiron, Pholus, Nessus, Chariklo, Ochyrhoe) in your dreams, and bring what surfaces back into the circle.

At the end of this class, you will have both an intellectually deepened understanding of Chiron’s influence in your chart, as well as an emotional, perhaps even embodied, understanding of Chiron’s role, through our guided visualization and dreamwork practice.

I’m so excited to get started with this cohort, and would love to invite you to explore the class page below, and register. Early pricing is available through July 31st. Paid subscribers, remember to use your discount code, below, to enroll in this and any of my ongoing courses.
