Juneteenth National Independence Day is an important holiday for America. A day that we celebrate the end of slavery. A day we recognize and remember all that Black Americans have done for our country.
I am grateful to live in a town that not only recognizes Juneteenth, but also celebrates it.
On June 19, 2023, Concord, Massachusetts made an official proclamation that the town supported celebration of Juneteenth National Independence Day as “a formal recognition of the dignity and importance of this holiday for all residents of Concord and those who visit.”
An amendment to the town flag policy was approved to fly a Juneteenth flag along with the American flag.
Up it goes…
There were celebrations around town at several locations including The Robbins House and The Concord Museum.
It is interesting to me that it took as long as 2023 to get to a point where we celebrate Juneteenth. It is important that we do now and continue to as we go forward.
Hope everyone has had a good day today.
