Today we celebrate the 249th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Have all of those 249 years been amazing or perfect for our country? No. It has been hard work and there has been a lot of messiness along the way. Seems we are in that place now. Messiness. And I’d say that’s a kind word.
My hope for the coming year and the years to come is that Americans really look at themselves and what they want and how they feel about our country. Are we proud of what we are currently becoming? I’m really having a hard time with a lot of it.
I thought about a lot of different things to post about today. But I do want to say that I love being American. I love what America has stood for. I hope we get back there. Back to caring about people. Back to caring about the world. Back to being a leader.
On April 19th this year Concord, MA celebrated the 250th anniversary of the “shot heard around the world” which was the beginning of the American Revolution. The images that follow are from the parade celebrating that day. Celebrating freedom. Celebrating being American.
