Okay, so. It’s mid-July, and if you’re anything like the rest of us, you meant to check ‘register for summer camp off of your list’ in April but then June happened. The summer road trips, the summer freedom, the playground adventures. We get it.
We’re not behind. We’re just parents in July. Because we’re right there with you. But half of summer is still sitting there, wide open. Almost every camp below has weeks left in late July and August. Horses. Rafts. Laser tag. Sewing machines. A surprising amount of jiu jitsu.
The best weeks go fast, so have a look while we’re still in fresh-summer mode. Find a camp your kid would light up about, sign them up, then go drink a coffee while it’s still hot. We’ve earned it, pals.
Three days on the river in a real raft. Two days deep in the creeks and shorelines most Edmontonians drive over and never see. Your kid comes home a certified RiverWatch Junior River Guide with a field journal full of their own water-quality data and wildlife sketches, and zero screen time to show for the week.

Bravé MMA & Fitness Summer Camp | through Aug 8, ages 7–13 Brazilian Jiu Jitsu on Monday. A LEGO challenge on Tuesday. A field trip somewhere they’ll talk about all week. Campers here learn to wrestle, kickbox and grapple - and, quietly, to speak up, solve problems and back up a teammate. They’ll come home exhausted. You’re welcome.
Laser City Summer Camp | through Aug 27, ages 6–12 No commitment? No problem. Book a single day of laser tag, Minecraft and mini paintball, lunch included, and see if they beg to come back. (They will.) It’s the perfect patch for that one week in August your plans fell apart. Flexible registration means you can decide tomorrow - but the good days book out first. You won’t even have to pack a lunch.
Fitset Ninja | through Aug 21, ages 5–12 Warped walls, salmon ladders and a whole lot of falling into foam. Ninja camp turns “climbing on the furniture” into an actual skill set. Book the week and let the obstacle course do the entertaining.
CCACH CultureWorks Active Summer Camp | Until August 28. Run by the Council of Canadians of African & Caribbean Heritage, CultureWorks pairs real sport: basketball, soccer, flag football, dance - with culture, mentorship and community. Kids come for the game and leave with coaches who look like them and a crew who's got their back. This one is the kind of camp families tell each other about on the playground.
Clip Clop All-Riders Horse Camp | Aug 10–28, ages 5–18 All skill levels welcome: real riding lessons, hands-on equestrian education, and a full week of the kind of horse-and-kid bond that ends with a drawing on your fridge for the next decade. Never sat in a saddle? Perfect. That’s the point.
Code Ninjas Central Edmonton | through Aug 28, ages 5–14. Kids build actual games — not watch tutorials about them. Coding, robotics and game development, guided by Code Senseis who make debugging feel like a boss fight. They’ll leave with a project they built, and the smug satisfaction of showing it to you.
Ten Peaks STEAM Summer Camp: Bot Basics and Beyond | Aug 4–7, ages 9–12 & 12–15. Twenty spots. That's it. Campers code and build a LEGO robot, then point it at something that actually matters - SMART farming, food scarcity, the kind of problem adults haven't cracked either. Mornings for the 9–12s, afternoons for the 12–15s, at Ritchie Community Hall. Half-days.
Steamoji Summer STEAM Marathon | July & August, ages 6–14 Self-paced, project-stacked, and built for the summer where you’re not sure which week is free. Register once, work through it at your own speed. Registration is open now with no rigid schedule required.
Fabric & Flow Teen Maker Lab | through August 21, ages 10–15 Your teen goes in having never touched a sewing machine. They come out with a hoodie or a tote bag they made themselves - and the skills to make ten more. Beginner-friendly, all materials included, four weeks to choose from. That’s four chances to give a teenager a genuine flex.
J’adore Dance Summer Camp | through Aug 20, ages 3–17 Disney Adventure. Elphaba & Glinda. Frozen and Moana. K-Pop Demon Hunters. B-Boys. If your kid has a favourite, J’adore has probably built a camp week around it. Ages 3 to 17, which means the little one and the older one can both be happy in the studio in the same week. Sibling deals.
Cheremosh Ukrainian Dance Camp | July 20 – Aug 28, ages 4–14+ Classes sorted by age and experience, so first-timers aren’t drowning and returning dancers aren’t bored. Try it for a week. Watch them come home with new footwork, new friends, and a strong opinion about the music.
Alberta School of Indian Music & Performing Arts | through Aug 28, ages 5–9 & 12–15 Week-long half-days of dance, music, art and craft - it’s a full summer’s worth of sessions to choose from. Ideal if your afternoons are already spoken for and you just need morning enrichment.
The Famous Aussie Cartooning Camp | Aug 3–7, ages 4–15 One week only. Real cartooning instruction, plus treasure hunts, LEGO challenges, water fights and talent shows - because a kid can only draw for so long before someone brings out the hose. Register for a single day or the whole week. It’s the first week of August or it’s next year.
Fort Edmonton Park Summer Camps | running now, ages 6–12 Kids don’t read history here. They live in it. Campers travel through Edmonton’s eras, dig into Indigenous stories and traditions, and run wild through one of Canada’s largest living history museums with educators who actually know their stuff. Weeks are going quickly. Check what’s left. Extremely Limited selection left.
Ukrainian Heritage Cultural Village | through Aug 14, ages 6–12 Build a burdei shelter. Meet the farm animals. Write pysanka. Wear the historic costume all week if that’s your thing. This is pioneer life by doing, not by worksheet - and it books out before of how immersive the camp experience is.
Camp Abilities by LD Edmonton | through Aug 21, ages 8–17 Built for kids and teens with learning disabilities, ADHD, ASD and related needs. Small, supportive, social-skills-focused; a camp where your kid doesn’t have to work twice as hard to fit in. Spots in inclusive camps are limited across the city, so don’t sit on this one.
Half of summer is still left. The camps are open, the spots are real, and the only thing standing between you and a quiet Tuesday morning is a registration form.
