Hey y’all, it’s been a minute. I hope that you’ve been well, and that you’ve been staying warm this winter. A few months ago, we launched Hear Me Out, an irl music discovery club focused on bringing back word of mouth music recommendations. Our first meeting was a blast, and we were supposed to be back much sooner, but there’s been a lot going on. Nonetheless, we’re back for our first meeting of the year on March 4th! RSVP here, and read on for more details.
While all genres of music are welcome at Hear Me Out, I’ve always wanted to make sure there was some unifying through-line, so our first meeting of the year has a theme, and a timely one at that. In the wake of I.C.E’s heightened activity across the US, it only felt right to spend our first meeting of the year celebrating immigrants, so this month’s theme is “Heat Melts ICE”. We’re asking attendees to bring songs from artists with roots outside of the US, and leaning further into collective action, we’re making this meeting a fundraiser too. The event is free to attend as always, but we’ll be collecting donations via a pay-what-you-wish model, with all proceeds going to the Immigrant Defense Project, an organization focused on keeping families together and ICE off of our streets. There will be light refreshments and drinks provided too.
Pull up to Vowels on March 4th, at 6PM. RSVP here! I hope to see you there!
I’m Ebrima, and this has been Edited for Brevity.
