Most of you know that I’m a conservative, I’m a Republican, and I don’t often get into political discussions on my Friday videos. However, what’s driving me crazy is this push by everyone on the left to paint Trump as the reason that things are not affordable.
It’s important to remember that with inflation, when inflation is a high number, or when it pushes things up and then inflation goes lower, that doesn’t mean prices go lower. It means the rate of change has slowed.
During the Biden administration, there was a point in time where inflation was at 9%. Then, when Trump came in, it came down to 3%. That doesn’t mean that prices dropped 6%.
Once prices are set at a certain level, it’s very difficult for prices to come lower because people got used to paying that higher price.
So when it comes to affordability, I want to point out that in Biden’s first 17 months versus Trump’s first 17 months, you can see that overall prices went up 13.3% under Biden. Under Trump, they went up 5.1%.
If you break it down category by category, you can see that groceries went up 14.6% under Biden’s first 17 months. Under Trump’s first 17 months, they went up 3.4%.
Restaurants went up 9.5% under Biden and 5.4% under Trump.
Meat, poultry, fish, and eggs are an important one because this is one that gets talked about a lot in the press. Under Biden, prices went up 18.9%. Under Trump, they went up 13.5%.
And then there’s gasoline. Everyone is complaining about gas prices. Under Biden, prices went up 107% in his first 17 months. Under Trump, they’ve gone up 30%. And that’s because of the war. For Biden, I don’t know why that was the case other than just really mismanagement.
Electricity went up 19.7% under Biden. Under Trump, it went up 10.6%.
Insurance is becoming a real problem. Under Biden, it went up 9.5%, and under Trump, it went down 3.3%.
This is a much more meaningful comparison than looking at Biden’s first four years against Trump’s first 17 months.
So again, when you hear all this rhetoric that Trump has made things unaffordable, it isn’t Trump who did that. It’s actually Biden who, under his administration, made prices really, really high. Now it’s almost impossible to get those prices lower, but the media continues to try to push that Trump has done this.
We just have to compare facts versus fiction. And here are the facts.
I just felt a need to share this with everybody. If you have any comments, please let me know.
