why repeating “i’m rich” doesn’t work

If repeating a sentence was enough to change your beliefs, therapy wouldn’t take months, neither would heartbreak, or grief.

Our brains don’t change because it hears something but it absoltely changes because it experiences something.

That’s why I’ve never believed in standing in front of a mirror repeating mantras like I’m rich. I’m loved. I’m successful. Of course beliefs can change. They change all the time but your brain needs more than a sentence to believe something.

Think about how your beliefs actually got there.

Your best friend stopped wanting to play with you. People suddenly felt temporary.

You spent weeks counting down to Disneyland, only for the trip to be cancelled. After that, you stopped yourself from getting excited for things, in case of dissapointment.

You answered a question in class, got it wrong, and everyone laughed. Speaking up was code…
