Nikol Murphy · Easy Organized Life Notes

I am a decisive and quick acting person. I love to be high achieving. I am deadline oriented. Nothing in my work life makes me happier than arriving to a meeting with all of my boxes checked and my work being top tier.

Re-starting a creative project has been tough. I have been fighting health issues that prevented me from working for about seven years. My brain is still recovering from being “brain foggy”. Essentially, I feel like an athlete coming back from an injury.

I finally feel “good enough” to get back to working. Even though (logically) I knew that I would essentially need to re-hab my brain back to where it used to be. The reality of this is tough. How is my grammar? Did I start with a preposition? Did my message flow and tell the whole story intended? Did I provide value?

It feels a bit like when you go back to working out after a long break. Your body tries to workout at the same pace and intensity even though you are not in the same shape as you used to be and it kind of kicks your butt.

I still have some occasional symptoms that prevent me from being at my best. When they pop up, I kind of freak out. Is this temporary? What caused it? How can I fix it? How long will it last? How far will this delay me? It usually only lasts a few hours and I can move on. Do I remember this in the moment? Rarely.

One of my life values (mantras? habits?) has been to JUST START. Not performing at my best at all times has my confidence shaken and is forcing me to show up in a potentially not-perfect way. I have never been comfortable with that type of vulnerability. But in order to make progress, I have to start where I am with what I have.

So here I am, JUST STARTING.

I hope that this may help you to JUST START your own thing. Possibly, volunteering, meeting friends out more often, starting a new hobby?

I’d love to hear your JUST START moments and how you got over yourself to keep going!
