So what did Jesus give us all these spiritual leaders for? To equip us – all of us – to build up His body, the people all around us! We've got plenty ahead of us to do, then: to get everyone active, to move to maturity, to watch for what would throw us, to grow up into Christ, and to build this body in love. Let's go!
Paul shows us in Ephesians that when you’re grounded in the gospel, you push—even from prison—for a matching walk that guards our unity with zealous energy, because of our oneness in Christ. So what's your passion for unity look like? Are you quick to cast people aside, or eager to raise others up to walk arm in arm for Jesus? Let's show that unifying energy for what Jesus died to bring together!
Join in listening as Guest Speaker Sean Patrick goes through his sermon 'The Miracle Story of Jesus'. It weaves a simple outline of his life on earth with a call to evangelism born out of Acts 1:8, Matthew 5:14, and Matthew 28:19-20. For the listener, it's a challenge to engage in the work of evangelism.
We love celebrating the things we are passionate about. The challenge is that our hearts are often more captivated by the things of this world than by God himself. As a result, we can miss the joy of authentic worship -- the very purpose for which we were created.
Jesus teaches us how to pray! But the form He gives is more than a "how-to" -- it guides our worship-filled relationship with Him! As you dwell on your relationship with our Creator, King, Savior, and Father, let this mindset and worldview bring you into deeper and richer prayer with our God.
We can get worked up over "the worship" on Sundays, but remember why we gather: to celebrate the gospel with God's people in the diversity of God's family! What is your heart rejoicing over and settling on as we come back home on this day of worship?
When our passion for God cools off, our drive to worship starts seeking other sources for hope, happiness, significance and security. But what we need isn't another amazing, mountaintop experience: we need the church! God created us for this community to sustain our worship, to center and re-center us on Jesus, to draw us together by the Spirit, and to root us in a radical new "ordinary" in God.
Has your love for others forgotten the cross? Has your faith in God forgotten to love others? Today we turned to our undivided Savior and found in Jesus both our righteousness and our salvation -- and now we worship God in both faith and action!
How do we embrace that fullness of responding to God in worship? Not in our own power, but in the power of the Holy Spirit, and trusting in the grace of God! May the Spirit guide your responses of belief, joy, contentment, commitment, and relationship with the Lord as you launch into this new week!
Worship fuels our sacrifice. When we know, love, and trust God, we're glad to entrust all we have and all we are to Him. How will you live this week as a "living sacrifice" to God, trusting Him with everything as Jesus lives in you?
