The below is less polished than sincere - and it’s a topic I think a lot about.

Trump’s Power of Positive Thinking in the Golden Age

In the fall of 1932, a young preacher climbed up into the pulpit at Marble Collegiate Church in New York City. Every Sunday for the next 50 years, that man preached from that pulpit. He wrote books, recorded radio and tv homilies, and became famous. And he changed the whole world. His name was Norman Vincent Peale.

A few years into his time at Marble Collegiate, that young preacher noticed a family who came to Church every Sunday. The family had children - three boys and two girls. One of the boys, Donald, listened, sometimes intently. Every Sunday, year after year, that boy heard who became a man was there

Those were the first encounters between one of the greatest American preachers, Norman Vincent Peale and one of the greatest American presidents, Donald J Trump.

What did Donald Trump hear every Sunday? A message of the Christian scripture and personal empowerment. If you read Peale’s classic book, The Power of Positive Thinking, you will find the definitive "self help” book … it teaches you how to be confident, intentional and fearless. But different than modern “self help” gurus, Peale was a Christian preacher. Every page is infused with God and the Holy Scripture.

Peale was a master communicator. He was a pioneer in radio, television, and in person preaching. And he was a writer. And he wrote more than just his famous book - he wrote thousands of homilies and essays.

But he was most famous for getting others to believe in themselves and act.

As you listened to President Trump in his first term, you heard a positive message of empowering Americans. It was strong and it was working. And it was cut short.

Since Butler, Pennsylvania last year, I hear and see a man transforming society with the positive Christian message. He seeks peace in the world, wants pardons at home (I know this firsthand) and keeps talking about individuals and families finding their ways to succeed.

We have a long way to go but the Power of Positive Thinking in Trump’s Golden Age is something to behold.
