September brings a variety of opportunities to engage with EA Belgium and the wider community. We’ll start with our monthly EA Social Meetup in Brussels, followed by two community outings: the Vegan Street Festival and Show Up for Humanity. These are great chances to meet new people, share ideas, and get inspired in both informal and cultural settings. On top of that, there’s exciting news from Effectief Geven: tax-deductible donations to various highly effective charities are finally possible in Belgium!
There's also a chance to combine fitness and fundraising at HYROX Ghent, and several impactful career openings in policy and animal advocacy. From the broader EA network, you’ll also find highlights such as the upcoming EAGx conferences in Berlin and Amsterdam.
We hope this mix of local activities, international events, and new opportunities helps you start the autumn feeling connected and motivated!

Since the beginning of EA Flanders and Belgium, around 2016, one question we've gotten a lot is how to make tax-deductible donations to effective charities. The options were always limited. Donors in Belgium faced an unfortunate trade-off:
Tax-deductible options often meant supporting local charities, but not always the ones backed by the strongest evidence of impact.
Most effective charities, identified by independent evaluators like GiveWell and Animal Charity Evaluators, were usually accessible only without tax benefits.
But now, thanks to a new collaboration launched by Effectief Geven, belgian donors who want to maximise both their impact and their tax benefits have a reason to celebrate. Through Effectief Geven’s new setup, the list of effective charities that are tax-deductible in Belgium has expanded significantly.
