Signal // Noise - the AI Diff

This was my first conference presentation in a long while, I was asked if I could submit short notice, didn’t really have the time to go deep and technical, so shared a bit about my experiences learning to manage bipolar disorder. I also discussed how some of the patterns around addiction, grandiosity, dysregulation and so on I also see in mild(er) (sometimes) forms around me since AI started changing everything.

Quite a few people asked me how I made the slides. All with Claude Code, with a lot of time fine-tuning. Conference style slides are very very lean on text - I prefer just a headline and maybe a clean image. My work style slides are a little more detailed.

Wikipedia editors published a field guide to the tells of AI-generated text: rule-of-three phrasing, the it’s not X, it’s Y construction, promotional tone, the em-dash.

I redesigned dwmkerr.com every year or so if I’m bored. I am recovering after minor knee surgery so have a day to myself. I used the vastly overpowered Fable as a nuclear weapon to hammer a nail. In parallel I am running a number of more complex tasks, and resuming the work I started before it was pulled (more to share later). I do indeed like the shell style:
