For years, my Based on a True Story comics have taken unbelievable moments from organized crime history and turned them into short, humorous comics. Along the way, many readers have asked for more stories focused on specific cities—especially Chicago.

I’m excited to announce the next step finally.

This is the beginning of an all-new series exploring the history of organized crime, one city at a time.

Rather than simply collecting comics, Tales from the Neighborhood combines my favorite Chicago-based Based on a True Story comics with brand-new historical features that dive deeper into the people, places, and events behind the stories.

Inside you’ll find:

  • Full-color Based on a True Story comics.

  • Neighborhood Notes featuring expanded historical context

  • Hidden stories behind famous Chicago locations

  • Maps, bonus artwork, and historical extras

  • A perfect-bound digest-sized edition inspired by the format of Mafia Unmasked

If you’ve attended one of my recent presentations at the Forest Park Historical Society, Rotary Club, or other community events, you’ve already seen how much I enjoy sharing the research behind these stories. This new book brings that same experience to the printed page, combining humor, history, and local storytelling into a single collection.

Unlike the limited black-and-white Chicago digest I produced several years ago, this is an entirely new book featuring an expanded collection of comics, full-color printing, and new bonus material throughout.

To help fund the first print run, I’ll be launching a short 10-day Kickstarter campaign.

Rewards are expected to include:

  • Digital Edition

  • Physical Book

  • Limited-edition poker chip

  • Exclusive Mobimal collectible card

  • Collector bundles featuring exclusive merchandise

As with Mafia Unmasked, my goal is simple: raise enough to cover the initial print run and get this new series into readers’ hands as quickly as possible.

I’m especially excited because Chicago is only the beginning.

If all goes well, I’d love to continue the series with future volumes that explore the organized crime history of places like New York, New Orleans, New England, Kansas City, Las Vegas, and beyond.

Thank you, as always, for supporting my comics, research, and the strange-but-true stories that continue to inspire them.

I can’t wait to take you into the neighborhood.
