So, what’s your number? Here’s what it means:
0 results: Google cannot find your website at all. You are invisible. Not just to Google, but to any AI tool that pulls from the web. This is an urgent issue.
1-5 results: Google has only scratched the surface of your site. Someone in our training last week got 2 results and asked “what does this mean?” It means there’s content that Google can’t find (unless you only have a two page website).
10-50 results: You’re indexed but not fully. Depending on how big your site is, this could be totally fine or a sign that some pages are being missed (maybe an entire category set of pages— i.e. all your blogs, a product category, a portfolio, etc.).
50+ results: Google knows you exist! Now the question becomes are those pages actually ranking for the right things and bringing in the right people?
The goal isn’t just more results. Even though that is step one.
It’s making sure the right pages are being found by the right people. The kinda people who convert.
And If Google can’t find your pages… Well then either can ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or any AI Tool.
You cannot show up in AI search without a foundation in traditional SEO first.
