Before the match against FC Dallas on Saturday, SDFC introduced their latest signing and the third Designated Player in Club history, Elias Achouri.
Achouri isn’t a well known name but was a very good player on an FC Copenhagen team that won the Danish Superliga & Danish Cup and played for Tunisia in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He’s expected to slot in at left wing when his visa situation is settled and complete a front line with Anders Dreyer and Marcus Ingvartsen.
After his press conference, I had the chance to speak 1-on-1 with Achouri about his introduction in San Diego and how he sees himself fitting in with the club. We also talked about his belief in the project and how he’s looking forward to embracing our bi-national region after spending time in Monterrey, Mexico during the World Cup.
It’s unclear when we will see Achouri on the field for a match but he is training with the club at the performance center and is expected to be a contributor down the stretch of the 2026 season.
