If you follow any perfume people on instagram, you’ve very likely seen people sharing images from a new account called the Perfumers Union, which, right now, is the home base for an advocacy organization for perfumers and the global perfume community founded by Michael Nordstrand. More than a union, the organization is meant to be a collective, a gathering of people from all corners of the perfume world: perfumers, content creators, writers, consumers, and more. The goal is to bring people together to talk about important issues impacting everyone in the industry, including, but not limited to, perfumer credit, the impact of AI, sustainability, and education.
Today I had the pleasure of talking to Michael about how the organization is shaping up, what you can do to get involved, and some upcoming events, including one at Stéle this Friday and a bigger virtual town hall being planned for September. To keep up with the latest, follow along on their Instagram. I’m sure Michael will be sharing news on his channels as well.
I’ll share Michael’s letter below with more on the Perfumers Union. As always, feel free to ask any questions in the comments! Thanks to Michael for taking the time to share more about his vision for the union. I encourage everyone to get involved and follow along as it continues to develop!
