If we haven’t properly met yet: I’m Dr. Uma Naidoo.
I’m a nutritional psychiatrist, a professional chef, a nutritional biologist, and a bestselling author, and for years I’ve been working at the intersection of what we eat and how we feel.
My clinical work is built on the idea that food isn’t just fuel;
it’s one of the most underused and overlooked tools we have for mental and brain health.
For a while now, I’ve been thinking about how to give you more of what so many of you have asked for: more depth, more practicality, and more of the thinking that usually only comes up in my clinic or in longer conversations that don’t fit into a single newsletter.
So starting next week, I’m adding something new.
Our regular Friday newsletter isn’t going anywhere.
Alongside it, I’m opening a founding circle for paid subscribers called the Mental Clarity Kitchen, and every Monday I’ll publish a new piece just for this group.
Think of it as the conversation I’d have with you if we had more time and more space: the kind of nutrition and mental health questions I sit with patients on for an hour, not five minutes.
Some of what’s coming: the connection between hormonal transitions and how we eat, practical frameworks for navigating food after major life or health changes, and the kind of gut-brain science I wish more people had access to in plain language.
I’ll admit, I’ve been holding onto a few of these topics for a while now, waiting for the right format to do them justice.
This isn’t about gatekeeping good information.
It’s about being able to go further with the readers who want to learn more in depth with me.
The first deep dive lands next week, and it’s one I’ve wanted to write for a long time.
If you’d like to be there for it from the start, now’s a good time to join the Mental Clarity Kitchen before it goes live.
With gratitude,
Dr. Uma Naidoo MD
