Before we begin…our poll is in and we will do our best to send this roundup on Saturday mornings as you preferred, but today, we purposefully waited for Trump and RFK Jr. to sign their historic EO, “Delivering Gold Standard Childhood Vaccine Recommendations for Americans,” (The White House).
Let’s dive in. This is a substantive change to the federal approach to childhood vaccines.
It narrows the routine vaccines recommended for all children, and separates that list from those recommended for high-risk kids.
It creates a list of vaccines for shared clinical decision-making between a parent and doctor. Translation: it increases parental choice.
It calls for separating the MMR vaccine into three shots (measles, mumps, rubella) rather than the problematic bundle that it is now.
It recommends giving immunizations at separate medical visits rather than together. HHS has 90 days to develop this plan.
It maximizes parental choice. Period.
It encourages states to reconsider school vaccine requirements. In other words, states are “advised to review their vaccine laws and potentially revise requirements”.
The Attorney General Todd Blanche (sworn in right after Trump signed the EO, by the way) will have the authority for the DOJ to become involved in exemption issues, e.g. state laws that conflict with federal constitutional protections.
August is National Immunization Awareness Month.
This is the time when mainstream media and medicine tell you why you should get vaccines. This month, I am bringing a different kind of awareness, and I can think of no better video clip than to kick it off than this one. Parents, please realize, vaccines are a BIG business, and your newborn is the perfect customer for life. This is why I call the CDC Vaccine Schedule the Pediatric Poisoning Schedule.
