If you have been following me for a while you know I am a less is more girl. I personally take very few supplements and famously edit my patients supplement routines down from 30 different pills to 3 when they start care with me. Just because I don’t take a handful of pills daily doesn’t mean I don’t keep a tightly edited stash at home for when I am in need. I debated posting this at all as I feared it would read like a shopping list of ‘what I recommend everyone to take’. It is not. But it is a list of some of my favorites I have found work incredibly well and are worth your money.
AlgaeCal: calcium from ocean algae which is more easily absorbable plus has magnesium and trace minerals in it. This is my #1 recommendation for bone density concerns. My wife has been taking it daily since she had a DEXA scan done.
Pure Encapsulations Zinc Picolinate 30mg: we all know its great for supporting immunity but I most commonly recommend this to patients who have breast distension or pain related to their cycles. Take daily, works like magic.
Perelel Hormonal Balance Support: this is a blend of myo-inositol, d-chiro-inositol and berberine making it a powerhouse for PCOS. I set this out for my wife (who has PCOS) to take daily. Enjoy DRSTOLBERG for 20% off.
NutraBiogenesis Vitamin D3/K2 Emulsion: studies have shown Vitamin D is best absorbed in liquid form. Take a dropperful under the tongue once a day, hold in your mouth for 30 seconds before swallowing. Avoid water or food for 5 minutes after. Pro tip: I like to see vitamin D levels for women at 50. I have seen patients transform energy and mood wise once we get their Vitamin D up.
Pure Encapsulations Rhodiola Rosea: my go-to for burnout and overwhelm. It’s an adaptogen that helps regulate cortisol and supports resilience under chronic stress. I swear taking one of these a day is what got me through planning a wedding and doing construction on our clinic simultaneously. When I feel myself starting to burn out I get back on this. Actually, reminder to myself start because life is crazy right now.
Seeking Health DAO Enzyme: this helps with histamine intolerance, especially related to foods. I take it before a high-histamine meal (aged cheese, soysauce, chocolate) which has really helped me in controlling my migraines. Patients of mine have found it really decreases bloating due to foods that they are sensitive to.
Physician’s Strength Oil of Oregano: incredible for acne! Two capsules per day if you are clearing ongoing acne. Shout out to Lindsay, the acne queen, for turning me on to this. Bonus if you add a cup of spearmint tea every day.
Perelel Cellular Hydration Powder: I take electrolytes sparingly, basically only when I have really sweat A LOT. Even then most on the market are packed with 500-1000mg of sodium which will leave you bloated and retaining water. No thank you. This one has only 150mg of sodium plus collagen and hyaloronic acid to support glowing skin. Very into the watermelon mint right now but also love the original mango lemonade. Pregnancy and breastfeeding safe. Enjoy DRSTOLBERG for 20% off.
Integrative Therapeutics Activated Charcoal: Great to take after a greasy meal or dairy if your skin tends to break out. Not for everyday use. Will turn your stool dark for a day or two. Don’t be alarmed!
Amulet: Creatine and lactoferrin gummy designed specifically for women to help build lean muscle mass and combat hormonal fluctuations and PMS. So you can have more good days per month. CODE DRSTOLBERG for 20% off.
Par·Olive Marine Collagen: Norwegian wild-caught marine collagen with kakadu plum and freshwater pearl. I have tried every collagen on the market and this one is my favorite. Coconut flavor is so light and wonderful. Love that they have a refill pouch to save $ and of course individual packs for travel.
Good Bacteria Rotating Synbiotic: not your standard probiotic, this is a rotating synbiotic which means not only does it have prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics but they change weekly to give your gut the diversity it needs! I used to switch probiotics every couple years but now feel confident I don’t have to. I take this daily in the morning.
Ritual Stress Relief: Three clinically studied ingredients, ashwagandha, L-theanine, and saffron in a cool timed-release capsule. I reach for these when its been a ‘hard day’. CODE DRNATAZIA for 25% off.
Thorne Magnesium Bisglycinate: If you’re looking for support with sleep this is the one I recommend. I mostly find I use the individual packs during travel when I am not in my bed and need a little help dozing off.
Don’t forget, supplements are meant to supplement. Most of what your body needs can and should come from food first. But when you need a little extra support, these are what I keep close and hope you find them as great as I do!
xx Dr. Stolberg
