It was an exciting nerve-racking day last night when I was trying to update Wordpress that my blog was totally messed up. It was still up and online but almost all of my 200 recipes were gone and it had a totally different look.

I honestly didn’t freak out like I thought I would. Or I would have before. I was very antsy because Wordpress is still a very foreign thing, almost like it it written in a language I’ve never seen before, even though I have had my blog for almost 14 years. You would think I would understand it and not be so lost every time I open Wordpress. But, alas, I am like a person lost in a forest with these detailed tech stuff.

I really have been needing to update some things on my blog anyways. I still had old and broken Beautycounter links up and it has been just over a year since the closure.

When I opened my blog and see it in such disarray made me contemplate just letting it lie and closing it all down. But, it has been 13 years of work (I’ve added nothing in a year) and I put tireless hours into the blog. I mostly wanted the recipes but I don’t always agree with my health takes that are still up on the blog (like Intermittent fasting). But they remain for now and I think that’s ok.

But what kept me going on figuring out what happened was that two people messaged me saying that they were missing recipes from my website and wondering if they could get print copies from me.

So even though very few people are reading my website, there are still people finding recipes and articles (like my cavitation article) so I decided it was worth figuring out what was going on and hopefully it could be fixed without spending a lot.

And after working with my hosting company today and letting them know what was happening, they fixed it. I have no idea what he did and how he reverted back to an old back up… but it is almost all there. There is still some 404 errors and missing recipes (like my grain free granola). But it is there and was my total win today.

After customer service got my site up and running I went to work and decided to learn the beginner Wordpress language again and fixed the menu’s and homepage arrangement. I switched links to update supplements, got rid of the Beautycounter links, fixed broken links to my Instagram page and spent a ton of time copying and pasting recipes into word documents so I would have them in case something bad would happen like this again.

I joked with my husband that if you went to my blog you would see that everything looks about the same and the work I did looked like nothing. But that is often how it goes with website work. You do a lot of work and it looks like almost nothing. But yet it makes things run smoothly and people get what they are looking for.

Whew… what a day!!

But, my blog lives another day and to tell another story.

Enjoy… the recipes are back up and running… well most of them!

Also I was talking to my mom and she wanted the French Silk Pie recipe on my site (it is one of the best recipes) and that was when I realized that actual recipes were missing. So I decided to send her my Just Enjoy Dessert ebook which the recipe was in. And she reminded me it is a great ebook full of over 70 Grain free dessert recipes.

I wanted to share it with you.
