Panicking?! me too :)

• Ask for your Letter of Recs! (DEF one vet! and a lot of schools want one prof! ) Minimum: 3. If they haven’t sent it, feel free to nudge them nicely via email. Today.

• Enter your Personal Info on VMCAS, and then add Programs (which schools you want to apply to). Start choosing which prereqs go where for each school.

  • If you are missing a Prerequisite for a Vet School, put down “planned for this upcoming year”- then go figure out how to get it! Ideas at the bottom :)

• Personal Statement!

  • TIP: Read the prompt. Include your qualities, things you have that will make you a good vet student! And include your vision!!!! (Try not to just list your experiences in chronological order!)

IF you’ve done these things, move on to the below list:

• Work on your Top 3 Vet School’s Supplemental Essays. I recommend using a live doc, like Google Docs, put the prompt and the character count in there, and then brain dump. Easier to trim it down than to add stuff back in!

• Reallllly work on your Experience Descriptions! Put your weightiest, coolest responsibilities at the top, then list out other things-

  • Ex: As a vet tech at Molly’s Vet Clinic, I was responsible for training new employees. I am head surgery technician, prepping surgery packs, monitoring vitals during surgery, and recovering patients post-op. I also clean kennels and answer phones.

  • EXTRA CREDIT: Add a summary sentence! Tell us how you grew, changed, what you learned here- really learned! “This position taught me ___.”

• Reread everything. Take the time to read every word, and then press Submit. If you can submit early, I recommend it! Some vet schools will not care. But a few of them DO- they get started on looking at your application a wee bit earlier, and I think it could give you a tiny edge!

  We remind you what you should be doing and when.

  We create spreadsheets for you, to figure out where you should apply.

  We practice interview with you so you become comfortable and confident.

  While our application is closed for the current 2026 cycle, we are taking students for the 2027 cycle. Get ahead of the game and let us help you with this next year’s prereqs :)
