Tackling addiction is tricky.

As a health professional who struggled with his own vices, namely coffee, I admit it wasn’t easy to let go.

Of course, this isn’t on the same scale as alcohol or nicotine…

But I think it’s fair to say that coffee has a similar, if not the same, drug-like effect on the body.

There are ways around this, of course, and I’ll be sharing one way today…

But before I get to that, let me share the story of a humble vitamin that has the power to give those struggling with addictions the confidence to succeed despite its hold on us.

The story is about Bill Wilson — better known as Bill W, the co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) — and a natural aid that eased his depression, restored his energy…

And more importantly, helped him kick the cravings for alcohol for good.

In 1960, years after entering into sobriety, he was still haunted by crushing fatigue and dark depression.

Even though he had put the bottle down for years at this point, the battle still wasn’t over.

Like so many in recovery, he faced a second enemy: the exhaustion and despair that could easily sabotage his journey to remain alcohol free.

That’s when Bill encountered two pioneering doctors who handed him a surprising tool: a natural vitamin.

To say he was skeptical would be an understatement. But since they were both peers and friends, he decided to give it a try.

Then within only a few weeks’ time, things started changing, and he started experiencing things he hadn’t felt in a long time:

>> Mental fog lifting

>> Energy returning

>> Mood stabilizing

…Health improvements he didn’t think he’d ever get back!

Excited, he shared this story with as many people as possible, giving this vitamin to friends in AA, and wouldn’t you know it, many experienced the same transformation.

Incredible!

But his excitement didn’t stop there! He continued to write passionately about it, dreaming this simple vitamin could become a bridge for those “too ill to grasp the AA program.”

Sadly, like many visionary ideas, his discovery met resistance, and while the success of AA lived on, the excitement for this vitamin’s potential died with him, never being incorporated into the AA program.

Today, this story has been shoved aside to the footnotes of history…

But that doesn’t mean we’ve forgotten about this powerful nutrient!

The humble vitamin Bill W had been referring to was niacin, specifically flush niacin like the Nutrition Detective Flush Niacin sold at The Nutrition Detective.

As impressive as his story was, I had my doubts.

So, as I do with all new supplements I’m skeptical of, I experiment on myself before telling everyone, and over time, I noticed major changes in my health and mood…

Specifically, how I lost my interest in coffee.

In the past, to cut out coffee I’d have to plan ahead of time, making sure I would reduce my coffee little by little each day, with plans on taking an entire day — preferably a day on a weekend or non-workday — where I could just sleep in because I knew I wouldn’t be at my best for a few days after.

Sadly, I know this routine all too well because I’ve gone through this multiple times in my life.

There was just something about coffee that kept bringing me back to it…

But that changed with flush niacin.

The obsession, the fascination, the urge…

All the cravings just went away.

In fact, even the thought of having a “warm cup of Joe” was kinda off-putting.

In other words, I felt disgusted about the idea of even drinking it.

That there is the power of flush niacin, my friend!

And if you’re struggling with an addiction like nicotine, alcohol, or coffee, as I told someone on Twitter the other day who was dealing with nicotine withdrawals from quitting cigarettes:

“Get on some flush niacin (nicotinic acid, a nutrient, instead of the pesticide nicotine that had you hooked). It will help. Check my store.”

So, with that said, make sure to check out our Nutrition Detective Flush Niacin!

Aside from tackling addictions, it’s also been shown to…

  • Help flatten inflammation

  • Increase bile production

  • Repair a leaky gut

  • Reduce allergic responses

  • Protect the skin from sun damage

…And oxidize toxins so they can be flushed out for good!

Just keep in mind—you don’t want to jump in with a high dose right away. That’s why I offer two strengths:

🔹 New to niacin? Start with 25 mg and work up slowly

🔹 Ready for more? Go for 500 mg, but always pair it with a buffer, as I explain in the Love Your Liver program

To the pursuit of better health,

Garrett Smith, NMD
