Gabrielle Pelicci PhD · Untold Stories with Dr Gabby

Almost every night before bed, I scroll TikTok for about thirty minutes. Judge me if you want to, but for me it’s like a guilty pleasure, a winding down ritual, a little window into the wide, wild world of other people’s lives.

One night not long ago, I stumbled on a clip from the School of Hard Knocks channel. In it, someone was being interviewed — and I was instantly smitten. Their story, their grit, their willingness to go all in… it moved me in a way that caught me off guard.

I felt that familiar tug of curiosity — that mix of inspiration and the tiny voice that whispers: pay attention, this matters.

So, I did what I always do when someone captures my attention: I looked them up on LinkedIn. (I know, I’m a total LinkedIn nerd)

And here’s where the universe stepped in. By some ridiculous stroke of luck, their email address was listed right there in their contact info. I almost couldn’t believe it.

Now, normally, I don’t do this. I don’t cold-email celebrities. But something about this person’s story felt aligned with mine. So, with my heart pounding, I drafted a message.

Dear [person who shall not be named]

You are such an inspiration! I never reach out like this, but your story genuinely moves me. I first saw you on tik tok and then started following you.

Your journey, your mindset, and your willingness to go all in is so inspiring. I know you probably get bombarded with pitches, so let me cut to the chase—I never do this. But after following your journey, I feel compelled to reach out.

At the risk of sounding too forward, I think you have a book in you. A damn good one. And I want to help you write it. I’ve written two of my own books and been the midwife for others. Is there any chance that you would consider this??

If not, know that I’ll still be cheering you on from the sidelines!!

I hit send and closed my laptop, fully expecting nothing to come of it.

Two days later, I got a reply.

Nice timing. I have about 100 pages drafted and getting a book out next year is a goal of mine, but i absolutely need some help from a ghost writer. I’d love to learn a little more about you. Can you let me know who you’ve worked with and what type of books you’ve helped write? Thanks!

I had to read the message three times before it sank in. This wasn’t just a brush-off reply. This was the beginning of something.

Fast forward a few calls, a face-to-face meeting, and lots of shared excitement — and now I can officially say it: I landed my first celebrity ghostwriting gig.

It feels magical. The alignment is uncanny. Their draft is strong but needs shaping, and I get to help refine it into a story that will inspire millions.

And it all started with a TikTok scroll before bed.

That’s the part that humbles me. How many times do we dismiss those little nudges, the impulses to reach out, the chance encounters that could change everything? This time, I listened to the spark. I acted on it.

For years, I’ve been helping thought leaders and changemakers bring their stories to life. Now, I’m honored to partner with a high-profile client whose story will inspire millions.

I can’t wait to share more when the time is right.

Lots of love,

Gabby
