EVERY BEAT AFTER is here!!

So here I am, a day late, full of gratitude (and exhaustion), reflecting on the fact that this story that has lived in my head and heart for years is now in your hands! Because I still have 6 preschool graduations to run today, tomorrow, and Friday, I’m going to keep this short and sweet. . . and perhaps a bit nostalgic.

This book. . . oh, this book. It came from so many facets of my life. My love of Return to Me and Beauty and the Beast, as well as the feelings I experienced watching a dear friend go through the process of having her son needing and receiving the miracle of a heart transplant, and my love for my own Farmor (my Swedish grandma), her baking, and my Swedish heritage—all wrapped up in this book that you can now read in any format you wish!

Another thing that made this launch even more special, was that this book released on June 2 —which is my Farmor’s birthday. There is a character in the book that is heavily based on her and it is partially dedicated to her, so I know it was no coincidence that it was published on her special day. I even went to visit her, and show her the book that was inspired in part by her.

And then I got ready for my launch party, which (as previously mentioned) was a comedy of errors, but ended up being totally amazing (even though I was a sweaty mess from all the chaos). I’m so thankful to everyone who braved the insane traffic and were patient with all the mishaps, technology fails, falling balloons, knocked over easels and more. I hope the Swedish pepparkakor was worth the wait! (And the book, too, of course!)

We even sold out of books! Wow…I’m still in shock!

I don’t know if other authors feel this way, but launch days are quite a mix of emotions for me—excitement, of course! But also anxiety, nervousness, worry, and fear. I want so badly for readers to find this book and to love it, but I honestly have so little control over the first half of those wishes and worry if I did a good enough job when it comes to the second. It’s a rollercoaster of emotions for sure! But when I was standing there in that packed room, looking out at all of those smiling faces, wow. I just felt overwhelmed with gratitude that I get to do this—that I get to share another story with all of you. And this story, while such a departure from my previous fantasies, is one I love so very, very much.

This is a story about the scars we carry, not on our faces or our sternums, but in our hearts and souls, and how love can heal those broken pieces and make us whole again. It’s about being truly seen and cherished, taken care of and loved. By your family, your friends, and (of course) your soulmate. Your person. Hunter and Liv have the most powerful love story, and I hope that you will laugh and cry and swoon alongside them, and fall as head over heels for their story as I did writing it!
