I am SO excited today is finally here! As you may or may not know, I have an adult contemporary romance debuting June 2, 2026, and today is finally the cover reveal! It’s also the day after my son’s wedding. My first baby is somehow all grown up and married. I’m so thrilled for him and we adore his new wife. But wow. . . sometimes these milestones hit hard, don’t they? I don’t know how we’re already here. As he took his bride by the hand and covenanted to be hers for all eternity, I was overcome by emotion. There is an exquisite bittersweetness in having your children grow up. Gratitude and joy that is nearly overwhelming, love that has only expanded and grown over the decades I’ve had the privilege of being his mom, and a pinch of heartbreak to sharpen every emotion, knowing I will never again be the woman he turns to when he’s in need, or wants to talk—and that’s how it should be. That’s what we’ve raised him to become: a man of God who will be a worthy and loving husband and someday a father to his own children.

But, my brain does feel slightly like mush, so you’ll have to forgive me if this newsletter is low on advice and heavy on YAY I HAVE A NEW BOOK COMING SOON!

HEY! Did you know I have a new book coming out that is totally switching genres??? (Wish I could include an emoji so you know I’m trying to be funny here.)

You may be asking yourself why an author who has 8 YA fantasies is switching genres in such a drastic way? Although I (obviously) adore fantasy and world-building and magic, I also have always loved contemporary romance—especially stories that not only have excellent romantic tension but also a lot of emotion and heart. (pun…sort of intended?) I’ve always loved rom-coms — classics like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and The Holiday, and Return to Me. In fact, most of the books I wrote as a child and teenager were actually ones that would be categorized as contemporary romance or even book club fiction. So Every Beat After is a return to my roots, in a way. Actually, in many ways, as it is set in a Swedish bakery, run by Liv’s Farmor (her Swedish grandmother — who is inspired by my own Farmor).

Does that mean I’m done with fantasy? Of course not! I have other fantasy books and ideas I still hope to publish. But I am SO excited to show you a new side of my writing.
