Transferring Down: Six Prospects Using the Portal Strategically

This piece marks the third edition of my now-annual “Transferring Down” article, a mainstay in my yearly off-season transfer coverage. I’m excited to write this year’s iteration in particular, as so many legitimate professional prospects decided to move to the mid-major level following disappointing seasons with their former programs. Just for reference, I went back and skimmed over the last two articles (here and here) to see who I’d covered and found that current pro Quadir Copeland was featured alongside eventual high-major transfers such as Rowan Brumbaugh, Isaiah Elohim, and Elijah Crawford. Those players, whose transfer decision paid off, reminds me how viable of a strategy this really is, leaving me hopeful that the players I’m covering today still have a shot at taking a professional leap in the future.
