Hi - how are you? How’s your week been? Mine has been very, very busy, with a side of shitty cold, sore throat and general fatigue (think I need to get my bloods checked again, as I keep falling asleep…). But we just crack on don’t we?
Today, you’ll find me at my desk as I’m so behind on work (Sunday Style won’t curate itself!), then tomorrow I’ll mostly be ‘Open Gardening’ (visiting not volunteering this time - the Petersham Open Gardens is biennial) in Richmond and Ham (my inner granny is never far from the surface), and I cannot wait. I may even squeeze in the Chiswick car boot sale, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves…
Anyway, for now let’s get into this week’s favourites, including the £18.00 bra that’s so comfortable I literally put it on the minute I got home from the store, Tracey Emin’s restrospective, Mango via Miu Miu suede bag, chicest cake candles (trust me), denim cut-offs you’re going to want to know about, slub linen tee, packable hat that actually looks great (most don’t), my ride-or-die beauty product that I’ve just re-ordered, (mostly unpopular) thoughts on the Devil Wears Prada 2, most delicious porridge I’ve ever eaten, the only trainer socks I’ve even worm that actually stay put (ground breaking stuff!), plus lots of chat.
So let’s go…

I went to Capri with an ex-boyfriend back in my late twenties. We were travelling around Italy and were spending a few days in Naples, so decided to jump on the ferry over to beautiful Capri for the day. This was a very low-key, low-budget holiday, so no overpriced, chic beach clubs on the agenda (thankfully, in hindsight). Shortly after we arrived on the island, I spotted a basket (of course!) full of the prettiest, cotton striped bikinis. They were a nod to the fifties style - low bikini bottoms with the big bow side ties and strapless tops (sold separately). Amazingly, they were not crazy-expensive, and I bought a set. We then explored the island, eventually climbing down to some (unpopulated) rocks, and sunbathed and swam for the rest of the day. Heaven. Well, it would have been with a different man, but that’s another story for another day. I wore my new purchase and have never loved a bikini more, before or since. It was something about the cut, the shape, the fabric (and almost certainly, my body at that particular time - not skinny I might add) that combined, was perfect. Anyway, I still think about that bikini (and thankfully, am pretty sure I have a couple of cute pics tucked away somewhere…), and that (toxic) boyfriend too sadly. But the reason I’m sharing it, is because this beautiful brand’s swimwear immediately reminded me of it - all the best memories of it.
Nounou (the founder’s childhood nickname - so sweet. Mine was Tucker, less sweet. Good job I’m not naming a swimwear brand anytime soon), a homegrown luxury swimwear brand, founded in the UK (with a small-batch production based in London), is, in her own words, inspired by “distant holidays and sweetly faded memories of my mother, Zoé, in her cotton bikini”. Quality and attention to detail is key, and it shows - the prints, the colours, the gorgeous gold shell detail on the fastenings…
My favourites are Xanthe, Fifi (very similar to my Capri one), and Missy. I also really like Anita for a more simple style (this is my go-to shape of one-piece).
Just a really sweet, vintage-looking bag. Perfect for any weddings you might have coming up in your diary.
It’s been a while since I’ve had a proper look at Oka, and consequently I ended up falling down a bit of a rabbit hole. So many fab things. But if I had to pick just one from these, it would be the striped lamp. Heaven.
