A little re-introduction!

We are over a year into the new and improved dot book club and I thought it might be time to touch base, regroup and highlight what we’re about for those wanting to know more.

We started this club way back when dot shop was running on Manchester Rd, in 2021. We met in the shop every six weeks to chat and laugh and eat snacks. After we closed our doors in 2023 I had decided that finding a new location for book club was too difficult and we should therefore discontinue. Well - I kept running into you guys out and about and the chat would always come back to - what about book club?

So we began again, January of 2025. It started with Orbital, a gorgeous fictional read written from outer space. We met, for lack of a meeting place and to kick things off in a magical manner, by the side of a lake, for a cold plunge and a hot flask of coffee.

And we have found our feet since then meeting in parks and walks and finally settling into our regular spot in Altrincham, the Hive.

We also have a small contingent who meet online, for a more intimate, quiet, evening chat. I wanted to allow our members the opportunity to join regardless of their location. I know that choosing a book to read can be almost paralysing for some, and having a 6-weekly stunner of a book chosen and assigned - with a deadline to finish it by- really can be quite freeing!

So, that brings me to the book boxes! We do a limited run of book boxes every six weeks. They are around the £20 mark and contain the book and a few other amazing goodies. Once the boxes are gone, they are gone. If you’d like to be the first to hear when they are released, make sure you sign up to this newsletter.
