So what the hell is Dossia and why did I leave my big tech job for it?

Let's start with the obvious: my tech job was great on paper. Big brand, big salary, big perks. But I wasn't in love with it anymore.

I liked the job. I thrived at strategy and loved working alongside agencies and my teammates, but I often felt like I was trying to bend myself into shapes that didn't quite fit anymore. It was polished and impressive, sure. But after a stumble with my mental health a few months prior, I took a break, came back, and simply couldn't get energised again. Not in the way I wanted. Was it disillusionment? I don't know.

What I do know for sure is that I couldn't stop thinking about two things:

• Life beyond the tech bubble.

• And Dossia. My beautiful, budding baby business <333

With 3.5 years at such a prestigious tech company under my belt, I felt like I was at a crossroads. Do I let the lifestyle creep grow alongside my salary, or take a long hard look at where I've landed and see whether I'm truly happy with the direction I'm going in.

So I left the bountiful world of full-time tech for freelancing. I'd been curious about freelancing for a while - what it could look like to take on strategic projects on my own terms, while building Dossia on the side. I also had people in my close circle who all took the freelancing leap (albeit in completely different industries) and landed fine, so I figured better now than never.

And yes, I know that's a privileged place to be. A lot of people don't get to make this kind of choice. I had the breathing room to take a leap, and I don't take that lightly. If anything, that freedom is what fuels me to architect my life with intention and create tools that actually support real people navigating messy, overloaded, full-spectrum lives.

Enter Dossia.

I've been building her for 2 years at this point with 2 amazing friends. Every Monday for the last 2 years, we've dedicated time and energy into building with full-time jobs, freelance gigs, pregnancies and more in the mix. Mad.

Dossia (dossi-uh) is a made-up word that somehow feels like it always existed. It's a play on the word "dossier" (a collection of documents about a particular person, event, or subject) and my British accent, really.

It's a brand I wanted to build from the ground up after struggling consistently to find a planner that gave me control, creative freedom, and blended well with my neurodivergent brain.

I was FED UP of everyone and their mum telling me that their planner template would change my life. I'm a gullible soul, so I'd always believe them and always HATE IT once it arrived. No shade to them, of course. They were all beautifully made products, but never quite the right fit. But that's a rant for another time.

Dossia is a new kind of stationery company. We create custom and specialist Dossias (yes, I'm already using the name as a noun) that are built by you, for you. They're designed to sit right in the middle. It's a notebook, a planner or a journal that's built around your brain, not someone else's idea of productivity.

Once launched - you’ll simply go on our site, choose your components and templates, edit it to your liking, and have it sent straight to your door.

We're a tech-powered stationery company with digital and physical elements, built for people juggling real life, real dreams, and real pressure. It's made for those who zig when others zag. Those who want tools that actually meet them where they're at, not where someone else thinks they should be. You get me?

I want to democratise this industry and shift how we use paper stationery once and for all.

What now?

I'm most definitely in the thick of it. Building prototypes. Talking to manufacturers. Exploring freelance work. I also moved recently so I’m writing this in a half-painted living room with a thousand tabs open on packaging, community platforms, and funding opportunities.

Glamorous? No. Grounded? Yes.
Alive? Completely.

Dossia isn't just a product. It's a movement toward democratisation and showing up for yourself, in your own way.
