Woods on her radical rewilding journey
*Short on time? Eyes exhausted from looking at screens all day? Scroll to bottom for the TL;DR.

I’m peaking my head out of hibernation for a Black History Month themed edition of “Where in the World is Woods?”

Some of you have seen my 15 second mindful morning moments (IG: @radical_rewilding) observing the going ons in the foothills, and have been asking, “Girl! Where you at now?”

So it seemed like the perfect time to bring back WITWIW. And since it’s Black History Month, all the clues are blackity, blackity, black.

Ready to play?

Game Rules:

  • No googling

  • No commenting if you already know

  • Share your best guess via email or wherever you can in the comments/DMs via social media

Here are your 4 Clues:

  1. Black culture in this part of the USA is known as Afrolachian/Affrilachian culture. Ther term Affrilachia was coined by Kentucky based writer Frank X Walker in the 1990s to describe Black people’s presence and history in Appalachian country.

  2. This city recently held it’s ribbon cutting ceremony in Dec. 2023 for its Black Cultural Heritage Trail. This walking trail documents Black culture + stories in this city so that it isn’t completely erased in the name of “urban renewal” aka gentrification.

  3. This city has one of the oldest Black community centers in the USA - the YMI Cultural Center.

  4. Post-civil war, this city had a thriving Black business district known as “Dickson Town” named after a formerly enslaved Black man turned business man, Mr. Isaac Dickson.

Sooooooo… Where in the world is Woods?

Looking forward to your guesses!

Be dope. Be well.
