Infertility in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) often results from weak kidney qi combined with blood deficiency or blood stasis. These issues can lower hormone levels like progesterone and estrogen, leading to an imbalance in the HPG axis, which can make conception more difficult or increase the risk of miscarriage. At our clinic, we offer acupuncture, moxibustion, and herbal medicine to support kidney health and blood flow. While these approaches can be very helpful, they are not meant to address infertility caused by mechanical issues such as fallopian tube blockages or scarring. Infertility treatment with acupuncture and Chinese medicine aims to improve egg quality, enhance the endometrial environment, and alleviate cold sensitivity by promoting blood flow, regulating the autonomic nervous system, and balancing hormones. These help increase the chances of pregnancy. When used together, these therapies provide a comprehensive way to condition the body, especially for those with cold sensitivity, stress, and ovulation issues.

1. Mechanism of Infertility Acupuncture

 Improved Blood Flow: Acupuncture stimulation increases blood flow to the uterus and ovaries, ensuring proper oxygen and nutrient delivery and supporting the development of high-quality eggs.

 Autonomic Nervous System and Hormonal Regulation: Balancing the autonomic nervous system (sympathetic and parasympathetic) helps normalize the function of the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis (hormonal system).

 Stress Reduction: Relieves physical tension and promotes a relaxed state conducive to conception.

 Implantation Support: Improving blood circulation in the pelvic cavity thickens the endometrium, creating an environment conducive to implantation.

2. Mechanism of Kampo Medicine/Herbal Medicine

 Enhanced Constitution and Blood Circulation: Kampo medicine is tailored to each individual’s constitution, addressing issues such as cold sensitivity, poor blood flow, and nutritional deficiencies to improve circulation throughout the body and foster a healthy environment for conception from within.

 Hormone Support: Contains herbal medicines that promote hormone secretion, supporting the effects of infertility treatments and improving ovulation.

 Typical Effects: Herbal medicines help improve blood circulation and strengthen ovarian function.

3. Combining Acupuncture and Moxibustion

 Synergistic Effect: Herbal medicines enhance overall body health from within, while acupuncture actively stimulates and improves blood flow, producing more effective results than either treatment alone.

 Recommended Duration: A treatment period of 3-6 months is generally advised for noticeable physical improvements.
