Gustavo Karakey, PhD · The Impact Generation

Hello everyone,

A few weeks ago I launched Tuesdays with Doctor G.

It’s a space (actually a part of my Life and Legacy Project) where I get to share the story of my spiritual and ideological transformation over the last twenty years.

I took off one set of lenses by which I saw the world, and put on a completely different set.

Check it out if you want to join a virtual community where you can learn about and discuss these issues openly, courageously and honestly.

I envisioned featuring this project as part of the Impact Generation, inviting you to look over my shoulder and explore the systems and tools that fueled its creation, launch, and eventual growth.

This included:

  1. The Vault - A note taking system to download, organize, and edit your experiences, expertise, and perspectives

  2. The Studio - A creative space to remix those elements into amazing units of value to share with others

  3. The Stage - A platform where you could offer those units as digital products, workshops, or group mentoring

But as I was preparing the training materials and workshops, I realized that I was now managing two ventures—each with its own content, training, and products—and neither reaching its full creative potential.

Consequently, I am inverting the priorities of these two endeavors.

I don’t want to lead as a tech entrepreneur who has an an interest in spiritual matters. I want to lead as a New Testament scholar and professor who finds the interplay of spirituality, culture, and the digital economy endlessly fascinating.

Thus, I want to invest more time writing about those things, in that order. My goal is to grow Tuesdays with Doctor G. with everything I’ve discussed here: ebook, podcast, workshops, group discussions, and group mentoring.

I will leave the Impact Generation as a standalone brand, and publish only when I’ve experienced real breakthroughs and success with my personal. brand.

I will finish out this newsletter with some of the key ideas driving the Impact Generation.

  • The Impact Generation: You are the Impact Generation 1) if you see your work as a craft; 2) you desire to monetize your expertise; and 3) you want to make an impact with your skills, talents, and abilities in your corner of the digital universe.

  • The Digital Economy as a Landscape of Opportunity: There is an unprecedented access to a global audience and the tools available to easily create and share content. The sheer size of the internet means that micro, exotic, and unique niches can be highly profitable.

  • The Importance of Self-Awareness: Deep introspection is a critical first step in building a successful and fulfilling online venture. This involves understanding and overcoming your inherited patterns of limited thinking (from religion, culture, or parents).

  • Building a Business Around "You. Inc.": You must focus on your unique individuality, experiences, and passions as the foundation of a business. There is no competition for You, Inc. Lean into that.

  • Rejection of "Soulless Marketing": You reject the coercive and manipulative approach to modern marketing with its stats driven and highly optimized funnels. Instead your focus is on authenticity in marketing, building genuine relationships, and serving people with the best of your talents.

  • Creating a "Life and Legacy Hub": In order to capture, organize, remix, and share your knowledge, experiences, and wisdom for current and future generations it is essential to develop a creative hub with e-commerce capabilities.

These topics will always interest me since they function not only at the business level but in many other domains as well.

My virtual door remains open if you need help with anything online.

Here’s to your success!

Gustavo

P.S. If you are interested in the deconstruction of faith and the Bible, be sure to check out Tuesdays with Doctor G.
