Update: Wednesday, August 19, 7:53 am.🚨 I’m confident this is now a done deal: Tadej Pogačar has extended his contract with UAE Team Emirates-XRG until the end of 2032. We’re just waiting on official confirmation from the team.

Some breaking news coming to us ahead of the Vuelta a España, with pre-race favourite Tadej Pogačar expected to sit down with UAE Team Emirates-XRG’s Mauro Gianetti, his agent Alex Carera and team president Matar Suhail Al Yabhouni Al Dhaheri for contract talks on Friday.

There had been rumours filtering through to us on Monday evening that Pogačar may already have extended his existing deal for an additional two years, with new terms agreed until the end of 2032. However, in a phone call with us, Carera pushed back on such speculation before confirming that talks over a possible one-year deal would take place ahead of Pogačar’s Vuelta challenge.
