This weekend was a good one. I took a brief trip home to see family. I got to pop into the - frankly delightful - NonDē Virtual Block Party. I did a lot of laughing and a fair amount of drinking.1 I taught a three-year-old how to say ‘DIY Golems’.2
Also? Our campaign for WHERE DOES DAISY GO WHEN SHE’S NOT WITH US? got the green light on Seed&Spark.
As of this typing, we’ve raised $24,790 - more than 80% of our $30,000 goal, which means that when this campaign wraps in approximately 60 hours, we’ll be able to actually access the funds people have donated. Thank you to everyone who’s given or followed or liked an instagram post or sent the campaign to a college acquaintance who’s only kinda still your friend.3 It means the world.
That said? There are 2 and a half days left and we are far from done. Our goal was $30,000 - which means we’re still $5,210 short!
The window is closing, so now is the time - If you’ve been following but haven’t pledged, we’d love it if you would join the campaign. Pledge, follow us on Seed&Spark, share our page with anyone you know who appreciates personal, hand-crafted cinema, who wants to invest in young artists, or who wants to see a movie about a New York they recognize. It supports all the work we’ve been doing over the last couple months and all the work we still have to do before we shout action later this year - the casting, the location scouts, the camera rehearsals, the payroll expenses, the LLC start-up fees and costumes.
We’re makin’ this movie, guys! I find that radically terrifying. But I also find it radically, radically exciting. I have a real feeling, deep in my bones, that this team can make something special. I’m so excited that we get to move forward.
On Thursday, this Substack will be back to our regularly scheduled programming. But in the meantime…green light means go, right?
So here we go.
Donate before our campaign ends!
My brother, a bartender, has a…let’s call it a heavy hand.
And he still didn’t follow us on Seed&Spark!
On theme for the movie, honestly.
