When looking for a math tutor for your dyscalculic child, it’s important to find a dyscalculia-trained tutor who understands the unique struggles of dyscalculia and uses effective teaching strategies to help students.

But how do you know if a potential tutor is adequately trained to help your child?

U.S. universities do not offer classes on identifying or teaching for dyscalculia, so tutors who are trained in dyscalculia have done the hard work of pursuing their own dyscalculia training.

Our job as parents is to find these motivated and curious tutors who are capable of supporting dyscalculic students in their journey with numbers.

This is why I created this printable PDF - to help parents in the process. Use this questionnaire to inquire with tutors about their knowledge, training, and experience with dyscalculia.

A while back, a dyscalculia tutor reached out to me. They heard about me through a parent I had worked with previously who had used this questionnaire when they interviewed the new tutor. The tutor was impressed by how much the parent knew about dyscalculia and by the thorough questions they were asking. This parent was confident in their questions and utilized my tips on what to listen for!
