A few words on Authoritarianism

I recently joined my friends at the Unsilent Church podcast for a conversation about authoritarianism and the crisis of Christian witness in America.

We explored why authoritarian leaders remain appealing even when their actions contradict the moral convictions Christians claim to hold. Authoritarianism offers people a promise of safety, belonging, and power, then identifies an enemy who supposedly stands in the way.

We also explore a question that I have been meditating on for a long while now. It was inspired by a letter Dietrich Bonhoeffer wrote during the darkest days of Nazi Germany, in which Bonhoeffer imagined a future rebuilding of Christian life and witness in his community.
